Who we are

The District Technology Committee guides the development of the district technology plan. It is comprised of teachers, administrators, Board of Education members, technology support staff, and support staff from all buildings in the district. The committee meets monthly to discuss issues and evaluate status of implementation.

Mission

Provide direction regarding:
- network,
- workstations,
- software,
- peripherals, and
- technology-related training for professional and support staff
Facilitate communication
Oversee development of technology plan
Recommend computer-related policies to Board of Education

I just read the article about "Banning Containers." It was certainly an interesting read and approaches a topic that I hold near and dear myself. I think I've been working hard to give some of our students "containers," as have several of our faculty. I tried having a "Current Events in Science" blog at www.classblogmeister.com and it was somewhat successful, albeit a great deal of work for myself. I think that some kids are REALLY turned onto Blackboard. When I opened the Discussion Boards section it received a great deal of traffic, so much so that I closed it for awhile. The kids IMMEDIATELY jumped me about it. Everything was clean, but the kids wanted their own "place" and the BlackBoard forum provided just such a place. The kids' iPod project this year may also prove to be yet another container for the kids. I liked the article and thought it had some great points, but I think a lot of teachers are fearful of itunless they are adept at it themselves. Personally, I don't have a real problem with a popular program like "Facebook," since it's relatively safe for the kids and seems much cleaner than MySpace. That could prove to be another container for the kids if it were done right.
